What or who is the inspiration behind your start-up?
Wheyts is the vision of four partners in the UAE. Collectively, we are all passionate about health and fitness, but also have one other passion in common – ice cream!
We had many friends, family members and loved ones in mind when we developed the product, many of whom had medical issues such as diabetes, obesity, food intolerances and the likes. That’s when the idea sparked.
We wanted a delicious ice cream that we were happy to give all our loved ones, from the youngsters to the elderly, without fear of any potential health risks.
From that point onwards our goal was clear, we were going to make a healthy, 100% natural ice cream that has just the right amount of protein in it for EVERYONE to enjoy. We are adamant in ensuring no chemicals or artificial ingredients ever get into the mix.

What is your favorite item on your menu and why?
Dutch Chocolate! The ice cream tastes like pure chocolate. Whenever we feel like we want chocolate, we grab a healthy and 100% natural ice cream rather than a chocolate bar with excessive amounts of sugar and unhealthy fats.
What (lessons) have you learnt along the way that you would like to share with other foodpreneurs?
The experience of setting up a business can only be described as an emotional rollercoaster. There are lows with running into bureaucracy, things not working out the way you planned, or costs that come up when you least expect them. There are highs with your business finally taking shape, the hiring of your first employee, and the first order you get for your product. Overall the experience is something you can’t get in a textbook or business school. You have to live it to appreciate it. Setting up your own business with your own sweat and blood is not for the weak. You will get stressed. You will doubt your decisions. You will lose your temper. But at the end of the day you will see your business grow. You will be an expert at problem solving. And overall you will learn. There is no loss in entrepreneurship. If you succeed great, if you fail you would’ve gained a wealth of knowledge that would’ve otherwise not been accessible to you. Failure is temporary for the persistent.
